Wrestling team names four captains

Head coach Jim Beichner announced last week that the wrestling team has chosen four team captains for the 2005-2006 season. Seniors Kyle Cerminara, Garret Hicks, Harold Sherrell and junior Mark Budd will lead the team into its upcoming season.

Coming off a red-shirt year, Cerminara is the team's only All-American and will serve as team captain for the second time. The 197-pounder is just two wins shy of becoming the third grappler in the program's history to notch 100 career wins.

At 184 pounds, Hicks will serve his first year as captain after completing his first season as a starter in 2004-2005.

Sherrell will wrestle at heavyweight this season, marking the third different weight class he has filled in the last three seasons. Last year, Sherrell, "the Cobra," finished with a record of 22-17 at 197 pounds, putting himself in the top 25 in the country in wins.

Budd will come back to the team at 133 pounds, where he finished with a 23-16 record last season, completing the year with a particularly strong second half.
