Making milestones

With the fall sports season underway, various teams are having members meet and surpass milestones in their respective careers. Senior Natalia Crofut and sophomore Lizaiha Garcia are two of the many athletes that have recently made their presence known.

Crofut, of the women's soccer team, assisted in the game-winning goal in UB's 1-0 defeat of Ball State on Sunday. Crofut leads the Mid-American Conference in shots and ranks in the top five with goals and points. With 53 points under her belt, Crofut is 25th in MAC history and needs just two more points to tie for 23rd place.

As the libero for the UB volleyball team, Garcia recorded her 600th career dig over the weekend. Garcia, who averages 4.06 digs per game and leads the team, currently has 622 total digs.

The chosen ones

Buffalobulls.com has selected Andrae Clarke and Katrin Fischer as the UB Athletes of the Week.

Clarke is a junior forward for the men's soccer team and scored the game-winning goal over Colgate. Clarke's Friday-night goal was his fourth on the season and extended his scoring streak to six games. Clarke has nine assists and leads the nation with 1.29 assists per game.

Fischer, a junior who plays in both singles and doubles for the women's tennis team, made a big impact at the Bowling Green Invitational over the weekend, posting perfect 3-0 scores in both singles and doubles. Fischer reigned supreme in the third flight of the singles divison and teamed up with Miglena Nenova for success in the second flight of the doubles competition.

Schedule announced

The UB women's basketball team announced on Tuesday that they have solidified their schedule for the 2005-2006 season. The team will start its season with three straight home games on Nov. 18, Nov. 20 and Nov. 22 followed by the University of Texas at San Antonio Wells Fargo New Year's Classic at the end of December.

The Bulls will then kick off their MAC play with a game on Jan. 7 at Miami (Ohio). The Bull's first home, conference contest will come against defending MAC champions Bowling Green on January 10. To view the schedule in full, visit www.buffalobulls.com.
