As a student who has lived on Elmwood for three years, I can see the difference in the atmosphere that Elmwood provides. I find it ironic that right next to the article about "More Students Choosing to Live on Elmwood," an article about Heights parties tells about police crackdowns.
It seems as if students don't care about big parties, thinking that nothing is wrong with it or saying the police should be worrying about muggers. It is a fact that alcohol is being provided to underage students at these parties and it is a fact that it is against the law to drink under 21 years of age. People can say it is a victimless crime, but what happens when one of those students gets behind the wheel or gets hit by another car walking home?
I like being able to walk to local coffee shops and local bars. I also enjoy the police presence in Elmwood. If the Heights want to be more like Elmwood, they have to welcome the police presence and listen to their neighbors being fed up with these loud parties.
