From Buffalo to Europe

After spending four seasons as a part of the UB men's basketball team, 2005 graduates Turner Battle, Mark Bortz and Daniel Gilbert have signed contracts to play professionally overseas.

Battle, 2005 Mid-American Conference Player of the Year, has signed with BC Kalev in Estonia. BC Kalev is a first division team and the reigning champions of the Estonian League.

Bortz, 2005 MAC Sixth Man of the Year, will suit up for Belgium's first division team Scarlet Vilvoorde.

Gilbert will be playing for FC Schalke, a second division team in Germany.

Mihalics to the Mets

Former Bulls shortstop Joe Mihalics was drafted by the New York Mets as a 34th round pick in the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

Mihalics creates his own niche in UB history by becoming the first player to be drafted into the MLB since Buffalo rejoined Division I. The last players to be drafted from the Bulls were Bob Williams and Marty Cerny in 1986.

Tuning into the Bulls

After a landmark agreement, more Bulls games will be broadcast on radio this year than ever.

All football and both men's and women's basketball games will be aired. Football fans can tune into WGR-550 AM and WHTK-1280 in Rochester, with the exception of games in conflict with professional sporting events.

Men's basketball will be aired on WWKB-1520 AM once again this year. Premiering on the radio waves of WLVL-1340 AM are women's basketball games, being broadcast for the first time in school history.

Teamline will also provide a stream of radio broadcasts free of charge on www.buffalobulls.com.
