A freshman guard on UB's basketball team was arrested in the Ellicott Complex Thursday and charged with the sale and possession of marijuana.
Wallace Hall, a freshman from Detroit who began to earn playing time during the Bulls' drive toward the MAC title game, has been suspended from the team for now, according to Bulls coach Reggie Witherspoon.
"At the conclusion of the university and judicial review of this matter, Wally's status in our basketball program will be reevaluated," stated Witherspoon in a press release.
Student-athlete rules at UB require that Hall meet with Witherspoon, a drug counselor, and university officials.
Team officials would not comment further on the incident nor how it would affect Hall's career with the Bulls. Many observers of the team expected Hall to play a major role for the team next year and contend for a spot in the starting five.
Hall is a graduate of Denby Technical High School in Detroit.
