UB's Mark McKnight, a freshman on the wrestling team, was named Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Week.
The 125-pounder upset Central Michigan University's No. 19 ranked Kyle Stoffer in Saturday night's dual meet between CMU and UB. McKnight was one of just two UB wrestlers, along with 197-pounder Kyle Cerminara, to win against the Chippewas.
In the next MAC standings, which will be released Feb. 24, McKnight will be the top seed in his weight class.
Women's Track and Field
Laura Olson, a senior pole vaulter on the women's track and field team, was named the Mid-American Conference Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week Monday.
Olson improved her UB record in the pole vault and also earned an NCAA provisional qualifying spot when she vaulted 13-0.25 at the Syracuse Invitational. She broke her own UB record by almost three inches in winning the event by almost two feet.
Last season Olson placed thirteenth at the NCAA Championships with a vault of 12-feet 9-inches.
