Volleyball

Although the Bulls got the better of the Northern Illinois Huskies in a 3-2 comeback victory two weeks ago, NIU wasted no time in the first round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament in throttling UB 3-0 on Tuesday .

The Huskies pounded UB early and often, winning the first game 30-27, the second 30-23 and the third 30-23 as well.

"We were just trying to stay focused and not let anything get in the way of getting this match done," Huskie head coach Ray Gooden stated in a press release. "They played a good match, but we were just able to put a couple runs together and that's what it came down to."

Crew

The Buffalo Crew team traveled to Charlottsville, Va. to take part in the Rivanna Romp on Saturday. The race, which was the final race of the year for UB, was full of strong competition, including host team Virginia, Ohio State and Tennessee, all of which took part in last season's NCAA championships. Duke and Cincinnati rounded out the competition. Racing in boats borrowed from UVA, the Bulls were able to finish eighth out of 17 entries in the Varsity 8 race, while the Varsity 4 team placed seventh out of 19.

Spectrum Athlete of the Week

He beat Brockport's Rob Cuffie to take the 197-pound title and become the Bulls' only individual champion at the meet. He also beat Bloomsburg's Chad Hoare and Oklahoma's Joel Tapler.
