Hadley Article Long Overdue

Letter to the Editor

This is in response to the article on Nov. 7 entitled, "One Student's Trash . . . . " I too am a Hadley Village resident and have received both the verbal and written warnings about trash being in that outside hallway. I don't understand what the big deal is. True, it might just be a little bit of laziness on my roommates' and my part to not want to take the trash out at 11 p.m. so we just put it in the hallway until the morning. Does that deserve a $25 fee?

The housing director needs to focus on other situations like the fact that the security card swipe on our door has never really worked. They currently have tape on the door as a solution. There was also the problem of our dryer not working for several weeks and leaking fumes into the apartment. Or there are those people whose cars have been broken into right in the Hadley parking lot. Why they choose to focus on a bag of trash or some shoes is beyond me.

I have lived in Hadley for two years now and on more than one occasion found the staff to be less than helpful. They don't want us to keep our shoes in the hall, but then they want to charge us if there are marks on the carpet. You just can't win.

Thank you for writing the article and bringing some attention to the issue.
