UB Softball
The UB softball team announced a class of five recruits for the 2004 season. The class consists of two New Yorkers and three Oregonians. Pitcher Sophie Barstad (Canby, Ore.), catcher Shannon Prochaska (Aloha, Ore.), infielders Ashley Dimeo (Aloha, Ore.) and Colleen Greene (Cheektowaga, N.Y.) and outfielder Mary Russell(Appalachin, N.Y.) make up this year's class. Prochaska hit .408 as a senior. Barstad had a 0.15 earned run average and a .379 batting average, while Dimeo .432 with five home runs. Russel hit .620 as a senior and Greene was a six-time letter winner at Cleveland Hill High School.
Spectrum Athlete of the Week
Mark Graham is this week's Spectrum Athlete of the Week. Graham, a senior safety on the football team, recorded a team-high of 11 tackles in the Bulls' 38-7 loss to UConn. Graham had three solo tackles, seven assists and added one sack for an eight-yard loss. He is second on the team with 37 tackles on the year.
