Women's Basketball

The UB women's basketball team released their 2003-2004 schedule. The Bulls kick off their season on Friday, Nov. 21 against hometown rival Canisius. The Bulls will also play WNIT winner Auburn on the road on Sunday, Dec. 7 and NCAA tournament participant Colorado on Saturday, Jan. 3 in Colorado. The women start up conference play against Miami (OH) at home on Wednesday, Jan 7.

Men's Tennis

The Buffalo men's tennis team finished four matches this weekend in New Hampshire at the Volkl Shootout. Junior Nick Zieziula and senior Rangga Prayudha both went 3-1 in their singles matches in the three-day event. Zieziula defeated Army's Sebastian Salas 6-3, 6-2, and Colgate's Jake Heims, 6-1, 6-1. He also split a pair of matches with Dartmouth opponents, beating Raj Shrestha, 6-2, 7-6 (3), but losing to Borko Kereshi, 2-6, 6-3, 6-1. UB hosts the Can-Am Invitational starting Friday at 9 a.m. at the UB Tennis Complex, with the finals to be held at Niagara University on Sunday, Sept. 28.

MAC Football

The Northern Illinois Huskies, a team that lost 23 consecutive games in the 1990's, are ranked No. 22 in this week's ESPN/USA Today poll and No. 20 in the AP Poll. The win Saturday over Alabama was the Huskies' second win over a ranked opponent this year. Four other MAC teams, Bowling Green, Toledo, Marshall and Miami (OH) also got votes in the polls.
