Speaker Encourages Involvement

To The Editor:
The piece, "Not Enough Options" on the opinion page of the March 15 Spectrum has caught my attention. I strongly believe that this is an issue of general concern to the student population as a whole. I also believe that this issue will never be resolved if complaints of this nature continue to take their current form. I believe that something can be done. As speaker of the SA Assembly, I have a proposition.

On March 21 at 6:30 p.m. in 330 Student Union there will be a general assembly meeting. I believe that with a little research that the assembly should consider passing a resolution urging reform in the dinning services. Presenting such a unified front would force FSA to take this issue seriously. I am willing to do some research this weekend and to collaborate on such an effort. I have the authority to place issues on the agenda for consideration by the assembly. However, it is not my right to propose such resolutions. It would be an abuse of power as speaker to argue for or against a resolution. I am willing to help you, or someone else who is interested in putting something together. I cannot promise any outcomes, either on the part of the assembly or actions that FSA might take, but I think we should try.

With renovation projects about to be underway I believe that this is a prime opportunity for student action. Please respond to this at jetuttle@buffalo.edu. I look forward to speaking, or typing, with you.
