Women's Soccer
announced four signees for the 2002 season last Thursday. Natalia Crofut, Erica Mincher, Lindsey Sadonis, and Pamela Schneck will join the squad, which finished 9-9 overall and 7-5 in the MAC last season. Crofut was a member of the Western team at last year's Empire State Games; Mincher's high school squad rattled off 22 straight wins last season; Sadonis earned Second-Team Onondaga High School League Class A-1 honors in her senior year; and Schneck received All-Suffolk County honors last season.
Mark Garrard
was named the MAC East Division Pitcher of the Week Monday. Garrard earned the honor based on his performance in Buffalo's 5-2 win over West Virginia Saturday. The junior right-hander went six innings, giving up one earned run. For the season, Garrard has a 2.70 ERA with four strikeouts. He is the second straight UB pitcher to win the award. John Sullivan captured it last week.
Women's Tennis
suffered a 6-1 loss at Akron last weekend. Buffalo lost all five singles matches, winning only seven total games in the process. UB went 1-2 in doubles, winning third doubles by default.
