Senior Vice President Wagner Resigns To Pursue Personal Interests

University Senior Vice President Robert Wagner recently turned in his letter of resignation to UB President William R. Greiner, who announced the resignation at Wednesday's Faculty Senate Executive Committee meeting.

"Wagner has been with us for about 35 years, and I suppose he thinks that's a long enough sentence, and [he] should be paroled," said Greiner jokingly at the FSEC meeting.

Wagner's resignation will take effect in July. The coming months will be a transition period, giving Wagner the opportunity to make his departure "smooth and seamless," he explained.

"It just seemed right to my wife and I. There was no particular magic to this July," said Wagner. "I'm not leaving because I'm unhappy. The university is in good shape and moving forward."

Despite his decision to leave the post of senior vice president, Wagner will remain on the president's advisory council and will be around to help should the need arise, he said.

Wagner has been in his position as senior vice president for 21 years and has been at the university for 35 years total.

"Life is short," he said. "There are some things [my wife and I would] like to begin doing."
