$8,000 Professors and Ex-presidential Speakers

It's embarrassing. When I tell people I know I go to UB, of which fact I am very proud of, they immediately say to me, "Wow, Joe, you must be rich to go to that college where they pay their teachers $8,000 a week for teaching a class!"

Then I have to tell them, "Oh, no. You got that all wrong. That was only for the Mayor to teach the students how to successfully manage a city government."

Then they say, "Oh, Joe, are you sure you got that right?"

And I say, "Sure, I do! Why UB does that all the time. Why next thing you know we are going to have a former president who knows how to successfully manage another government speak to our students. I won't mention any names but he's had experience with college students before. And he promised to speak for free. Although we students at UB haven't found out yet how much free is going to cost us?"

And then my friends, Stan and Wanda said, "Can we come to a class to hear one of your $8000-a-week-teachers teach? ... or to the next assembly to hear an ex-president speak for ... free?"

And then I have to say, "Oh, no, kiddies. I don't think so. You see they only get away with it one time before someone finds out about it and tells the newspapers. And then the UB students learn ... the other-half of the story?"
