I am writing regarding The Spectrum article "Sweatshop Foes Rally for Improved Conditions" dated Nov. 7. I think it is ironic that protests of New Era Cap Company are occurring now while there is a strike going on at one of New Era's WNY facilities.
So why then is this just showing up on our campus now? I checked and several of the New Era hats I picked up at the campus store say "Made in the USA." The other non-New Era hats are made overseas. How come they aren't protesting against these vendors?
Don't get me wrong, I'm willing to be an activist for all the correct reasons. But as an international business student, I don't like my intelligence being insulted by an outfit trying to take advantage of students and their natural spirit for causes when it appears the real truth in their protest of New Era is tied to some labor issue.
