UB men's soccer warms up prior to a game. The men's soccer team has been cut from UB Athletics.

UB Athletics has announced through a press release that it will be cutting four sports programs beginning in the fall of 2017. Men’s soccer, baseball, men’s swimming and diving and women’s rowing will all be cut after the spring semester.

The move is an attempt to reduce costs by UB Athletics, according to the press release. The move will save an estimated $2 million annually. It is expected to affect 120 student-athletes and UB's total sports sponsorship went from 20 to 16. They will honor all current scholarships and national letters of intent for student-athletes who choose not to transfer to another school.

The department is not considering cutting any other programs at this time, according to the release.
