"Seniors McCrea, Oldham lead Bulls to 10th straight home victory"

In a season of change for the men's basketball team under first-year head coach Bobby Hurley, it was two of the team's most tenured players who led the Bulls to their 10th consecutive home win on Wednesday night. Behind seniors Javon McCrea and Jarod Oldham, the Bulls (12-7, 6-3 Mid-American Conference) defeated Ball State (4-16, 1-8 MAC), 69-48, Wednesday night at Alumni Arena in front of an estimated crowd of 2,558. McCrea scored 19 points, making him the third UB player to score at least 18,000 career points.

Bulls take on MAC bottom feeders before brutal final stretch

After dropping its third road game in four chances, the men's basketball team returns to Alumni Arena on Wednesday night to put its undefeated home record on the line before a two-game road trip. The Bulls (11-7, 5-3 Mid-American Conference) host Ball State (4-15, 1-7 MAC) on Wednesday before traveling to Central Michigan (7-13, 0-8 MAC) for a Saturday night matchup. Buffalo played the Cardinals in Muncie, Ind., on Jan.

White hosts 'family dinners' for sports teams to build unity

While the UB sports teams were hard at work this fall, their appetites were satisfied with food from the home of Athletic Director Danny White. White hosted several dinners, catered by 3 Pillars Catering, for student-athletes throughout the fall season under a large white tent in his driveway.

A look inside Fred Lee's kitchen

Senior wide receiver Fred Lee is a man of many skills. He's well known for his pass-catching abilities and motivational speaking around Buffalo, but he's also an exceptional cook, and there's a good chance he's made something for you before. Lee has worked as a manager at the Taco Bell on the corner Maple and Sweet Home Roads in Amherst, and he's currently a chef at The U, located on the same corner as Taco Bell. Some of his favorite recipes are macaroni and cheese, light tuna salad and Cajun wings.

Bulls return to Alumni Arena

The men's basketball team has alternated wins and losses in its previous five contests. The Bulls have the opportunity to build their first winning streak since early in the month when they host Western Michigan. The Bulls (10-6, 4-2 Mid-American Conference) face the Broncos (11-7, 4-2 MAC) Wednesday evening followed by a trip to Bowling Green (9-10, 3-3 MAC) on Sunday. Senior forward Javon McCrea has at least 20 points in three of the past four games and has three double-doubles in the past five contests.

Regan's strong night powers Bulls past Kent State

In the first half of the men basketball team's game against Kent State on Saturday, the Bulls' offense was so stagnant that at one point it went nine minutes without scoring a field goal. But the squad's defensive play kept it close, and when UB opened up the second half with a 22-11 run, it gave the Bulls the lead for good. Buffalo (9-5, 3-1 Mid-American Conference) stayed undefeated at home, defeating rival Kent State (11-6, 2-2 MAC), 71-60, in front of an Alumni Arena crowd of 3,347. The Bulls struggled from the field in the first half, shooting 37.5 percent overall and only 1 for 8 from three.

Buffalo snaps two-game skid with victory over Binghamton

The men's basketball team snapped its two-game losing streak on Monday afternoon by defeating Binghamton, 87-57. Senior forward Javon McCrea, who recorded his second straight double-double with 25 points and 14 rebounds, led the Bulls (5-4). Junior forward Will Regan scored a season-high 18 points while senior guard Josh Freelove added 19. The Bulls turned the ball over only seven times - a dramatic improvement after Saturday's game, in which they turned the ball over 22 times in an 84-81 overtime loss to Manhattan at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. Guard Jordan Reed - who scored a team-high 19 points off the bench for the Bearcats - led Binghamton (2-9). Monday's game was the Bulls' last at Alumni Arena in 2013.

Bulls fall to Manhattan in OT at Barclay's Center

Despite leading Manhattan in field goal percentage and three-point field goal percentage, the men's basketball team struggled with turnovers and missed free throws down the stretch on Saturday afternoon, allowing the Jaspers to stay in the game. After UB appeared to have the game wrapped up with about a minute left to play, missed free throws allowed Manhattan to force the game into overtime and eventually win. The Bulls (4-4) fell to the Jaspers (9-2, 2-0 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference), 84-81 on Saturday afternoon at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. "I thought we gave a winning effort," said head coach Bobby Hurley.
