Buffalo's blackout game brings 'electric' atmosphere

In UB Stadium?s first ever home game televised on ESPN's flagship channel, Bulls fans ?blacked out? the stadium, showing support for Buffalo?s new black helmet that was unveiled Friday. Cletus Emokpae, The Spectrum Danny White described UB?s football game day experience in 2012 as like ?a ghost town." White, Buffalo?s Athletic Director, called the atmosphere for the Bulls? game against Baylor Friday night ?electric.? Fans tailgating inside the Special Events parking lot welcomed the Baylor team bus onto campus with ?boos? and insulting signs.

Buffalo volleyball wins UIC Tournament

Junior middle blocker Akeila Lain sets up a spike. The volleyball team was perfect in its three games this weekend, going 3-0 to win the UIC Tournament Championship. After winning the University of South Florida Tournament last weekend, the volleyball team looked to do the same at the University of Illinois Chicago Tournament this weekend. This time around, the team did not just win; it dominated. The Bulls (7-3) won the UIC Tournament while going undefeated Friday and Saturday with victories against Western Illinois (1-7), Chicago-Illinois (4-6) and Eastern Kentucky (8-5). Buffalo is currently on a five-game winning streak.

Junior outside hitter Tahleia Bishop won tournament MVP of the USF Invite this weekend. The volleyball team won the tournament. Yusong Shi, The Spectrum The volleyball team was unable to win the UB Invite it hosted last weekend in Alumni Arena.

Junior quarterback Joe Licata had 396 passing yards in Buffalo's 47-39 loss at Army. Buffalo trailed 47-17 before scoing the game's final 22 points. Courtesy of Army Athletics Communications Trailing by eight points with 30 seconds left in its game against Army Saturday, the football team faced a fourth down on its own 32-yard line with no timeouts left. Buffalo had trailed by as many as 30 points in the fourth quarter, but with a potent passing attack, an onside kick recovery and a Black Knights fumble, the Bulls made it a one-possession game. With the game on the line, Buffalo called a draw up the middle with junior running back Anthone Taylor.
