OPINION

Chores and their tedious beauty

My mom did everything she could to make sure I was raised right. She motivates me to take on challenges and, above all else, makes me bring our family’s laundry baskets up and down the stairs.

OPINION

Grow up, Mr. West

I’m not saying you’re a bad person if you listen to Kanye West. There’s something to be said for separating the art from the artist. But if you agree with his statements about Jewish people, you too are a disgusting bigot.

OPINION

In the courtroom that is my classroom

"In my silence, I am reminded that enjoying political science and humanities classes is a privilege. Educational institutions only teaching through specific lenses. Spaces where we’re not heard nor seen, purported to be works of charity. It is, like many things, run by the white man and woman. A scholarly realm for them, a battleground for us."

OPINION

Kick the sheets and go outside

"It’s really easy to get couped up at home, especially after a hard-fought semester. But it’s important, even over breaks, to occupy yourself with either a job or some sort of physical activity."

OPINION

A cup of coffee or a cup of community?

The “third place” is a term which defines an accessible and public space where people regularly gather and interact for a sense of community and camaraderie. Starbucks’ promise of community through consumerism is antithetical to the third place.
