No memory lives in a deeper and more miserable corner of Buffalo Bills fans' minds than Scott Norwood's wide right kick as the clock ran out on Super Bowl XXV.The highlight reel is always reminding us just what it was like.

With a flair for the dramatic, the men's tennis team took down the Toledo Rockets on Saturday night at the Village Glen Tennis Center in Williamsville.Their second Mid-American Conference match of the year saw the Bulls (5-7 overall, 1-1 MAC) come up with a big comeback against the Rockets (6-9 overall, 0-1 MAC).Due to more than three hours of high-level tennis the match was not only a physical fight, but a mental battle as well, and the Bulls came out on top."This week the team was determined to work hard keeping up an amazing display of intensity in practice.
Just when you think they can't get any worse, corporate America steps in and takes it up a notch.McDonald's is offering hip-hop artists anywhere from $1 to $5 for each time one of their songs with a Big Mac reference makes it to the radio in a new marketing campaign aimed at reinvigorating the dying double burger of death. The easy angle is how horrible this is, another step in the wrong direction for a healthier, slimmer America.
Is the Student Association nepotistic? The answer is absolutely not ("Outside candidates face obstacles as election nears," March 24). Yes, it is a tight-knit community.
Playing five games in three days is tough, but the University at Buffalo baseball team (9-10) was able to take four of them over the long weekend: one against the University of Maryland Baltimore County Retrievers (4-10) and three more in a sweep of the Navy Midshipmen (3-15-1).FridayOn Friday, the Bulls split a doubleheader with UMBC on their home turf at Baseball Factory Field, winning the opener by the score of 8-5, and losing the nightcap 5-3, despite two home runs by UB shortstop Joe Mihalics.Buffalo was able to get its offense rolling early in the first game, as back-to-back doubles by Mihalics and junior first baseman James Kingsley opened up a 1-0 lead.

Students and alumni examined the history of activism in Buffalo and discussed why students today are practicing different forms of protest at a forum titled "Activism: Then and Now" on Friday afternoon. The forum speakers in the Student Union Theater addressed the Hayes Hall 45 incident, when 45 UB professors were arrested on South Campus in the spring of 1970.Michael Frisch, a history professor who was one of the 45, described the protests as a series of lines that were continually crossed as students pushed further for a cause.
To many UB fans, it is not a question of if the Bulls' number 11 should be retired. The real question is, for whom? The number has been worn by arguably the two best UB players in the past ten years - Rasaun Young and Turner Battle.

Casting Joan Allen for the role as Terry Wolfmeyer in "The Upside of Anger" is akin to casting Charlize Theron as Aileen Wuornos in "Monster," but director Mike Binder ("Indian Summer") has done just that.Allen - a tall, leggy blonde - normally has an onscreen demeanor that is both noble and refined, edging on regal.
I believe that the author of the letter on the lack of Portuguese at UB is being completely unfair ("A void for Portuguese students," March 23). As a language major and amateur language buff, I was very excited about the extensive World Language program that UB offers.
