"Francisco brings impressions, insults, and laughs aplenty"

"C***blockers" are a major problem in today's society. Nobody knows this better than comedian Pablo Francisco, who gave an extensive list Saturday of preventative ideas and demonstrated songs that a roommate could play to prevent his friend from getting jiggy, songs like "The Monster Mash" and "Tequila."Best known for his standup work on "Comedy Central Presents," Francisco bolted onstage at the Center for the Arts to "Thunderstruck" and immediately launched into an air guitar impression of Angus Young, receiving ecstatic reactions from the crowd.

"As SA's first black male president, Yador roots his values in family"

As Student Association president, Dela Yador landed Kanye West for one of the most successful Fall Fests ever, he helped push for an online syllabi program that's becoming a standard, and now he's working to create a new unity between students and UB's administration.To do all that, Yador has built upon lessons he learned from his parents as one of six children, an experience helped prepare him to run the large family that is SA."At home my parents always try to instill values and respect, which is the most important thing," said Yador, whose family is originally from Ghana, though was born and raised in the Bronx.As February is Black History Month, it is not lost on Yador what his SA presidency means in UB's own history.

Conference woes continue at Akron

A lack of discipline leads to early foul trouble, and early foul trouble leads to a long day for any basketball team, especially when that trouble involves your two leading scorers.Senior guard Calvin Cage and junior center Yassin Idbihi each faced that very problem with two fouls apiece by the 10-minute mark Wednesday night, enabling the Akron Zips to pull away to a 13-point half-time lead and an eventual 75-61 victory.With the exception of freshman guard Greg Gamble, the foul trouble continued for the Bulls' starters throughout the second half, shattering all hope of a comeback for Buffalo in the team's fifth conference loss this season.

Recent graduate sentenced for tax fraud

An international student who recently graduated from UB was sentenced Wednesday to 10 weeks in jail after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor tax-fraud charge.Ozir Ozov, 31, had pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of deliberately failing to file his 2001 non-resident income tax return, according to The Buffalo News.

Meet the future

With a new head coach and a batch of new assistants, the UB football program welcomed another group of newcomers to the team on Wednesday, including two local standouts and the nephew of a former Bills great.When hired last month, coach Turner Gill was praised for his recruiting prowess, and in his first class of Bulls, the former Husker has signed a group of 14 high school players that includes local quarterback Naaman Roosevelt, the co-New York State Player of the Year who UB managed to steal away from powers Boston College and 1-AA New Hampshire.On a day that marked the start of the national signing period, one group of analysts at Rivals.com ranked UB's incoming class fourth in the conference, only the second time the Bulls climbed into the top five.
