Bulls of the Week

After posting impressive individual performances in their respective sports, Chandra Hazey of the women's crew team and pitcher Tony Kurtz of the baseball team were named UB athletes of the week.

Hazey came up big for UB's Varsity 8 boat, filling in a vacancy, yet the team saw no drop in performance. Hazey took the stroke seat in the Varsity 8 boat and helped pull the Bulls to a time of 6:09.21 to win the race. Later that day, she put in another gutsy performance, rowing in the second Varsity 8 race. UB also won that race, finishing nine seconds ahead of second-place Cornell.

Kurtz showed versatility as well, picking up a win and a save over five games last week. In his first appearance, the right-hander pitched three innings against Canisius, striking out two and earning the win. Against Bowling Green, Kurtz entered the game in the seventh inning with one out. He struck out four batters, retiring all seven Falcons he faced without allowing a single run, earning him the save.

Schedule shake-up for men's tennis

The men's tennis team has rescheduled its final two matches of the regular season. Originally scheduled for Wednesday at 3 p.m., Buffalo's match against Niagara will be played on Thursday at 1 p.m.

The team's finale against Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne, which was supposed to be played at 7 p.m. on Saturday, has been pushed up to earlier in the day at 1 p.m.

The current weather forecast is clear, so both matches will be played at the UB Tennis Center outside of the Ellicott Complex on North Campus.
