"Deliverance"

Dipson Amherst

Saturday, March 11 at midnight

$6 for students

Chock-full of classic scenes: the banjo strumming showdown, the infamous anal raping, and Burt Reynolds slinging an arrow into a hillbilly's chest, "Deliverance" is still an intelligent film beneath the surface of gratuitous sex and violence. It garnered Academy Award nominations for Best Picture, Director and Editing in 1973.

"Why We Fight"

Dipson Market Arcade Film & Arts Centre

Friday, March 10 at 4:30, 7:00, 9:30

$5 for students

Dwight Eisenhower's 1961 farewell address to the nation spoke of the military-industrial complex as a threat to democracy. Director Eugene Jarecki's documentary is a look into this link with insightful contributions from people like John McCain and Gore Vidal. He investigates the people who benefit most from war by showing the ties between business and the military.

Dilated Peoples

The Buffalo Icon

Saturday, March 11 at 8 p.m.

Tickets: $18-20

The Dilated Peoples, consisting of two emcees and a DJ, will bring their tasty beats to the Icon this Saturday. They smuggle their sound from L.A.'s West Coast, and stay true to the underground hip-hop scene. These boys don't need flashy fronts and French cognac to attest to their clout. Dilated Peoples modestly decorate themselves with coarse lyrics, turntables, and talent.
