First off, I would like to congratulate the Buffalo Bulls football team, who [on Tuesday] won a decisive MAC east game over the Miami University Redhawks 37-17.
However what took place after the game frightened me, and made me very upset to myself. After we won the game a group of 200-300 fans who were next to the true blue student section proceeded to storm the field.
The True Blue fans, who maybe some of the most dedicated and hard-working fans, as well as the smartest didn't move, however these kids proceeded to storm the field on ESPN2, Buffalo's first appearance on the network, and made every student at this university look absolutely stupid.
I'm not sure if these fans understand but our team entered this game at 4-4, well the Redhawks entered at 2-6, that means we were favored to win this game. If you don't believe me the Vegas Line was Buffalo by 9.
So after we won a game in which we were favored to win we felt the need to storm the field, in the process cutting off an interview ESPN2 had set up with Turner Gill, costing him valuable airtime to attract recruits at home watching, as well as making the university and its students look stupid in the process on national television.
This university and it's football team are well on their way to their goals, and becoming a force to be reckoned with in the College Football landscape; However the student body needs to realize it isn't funny or needed to storm the field after every game.
You didn't see Syracuse storm the field when they upset Louisville this past weekend, and they were the underdog, but they're a big time program which is used to success.
If our student section, and team as a whole wants to be taken serious juvenile acts, such as what happened tonight after the game can't happen.
I feel the 200-300 people made a lot of us real fans, who are educated and understand what the university and team strive for, look really stupid to a lot of people on national television.
