My Chemical Romance bloodies the murder scene

From their shotgun-sinning lyrics, head-cracking snare hits, aggressive guitar riffs, and rumbling bloody bass lines, Jersey boys My Chemical Romance are famous for giving 110 percent to their fans on and off stage.

"Life On The Murder Scene," a live CD/DVD released last week, lives up to that ideal with a compilation of excellent live footage and tons of great bonus material.

The triple-disc set, bundled together by photos of blood-spackled lovers, is a fantastic set that will have any MCR fan going crazy. The set offers two years' worth of live music and live footage, giving a very personal look into the lives of the five rock 'n' roll-playing vampires.

The first DVD is a video diary that tells the story of My Chemical Romance and how they each got their start in music. An in-depth examination is given of each member in the group, unfolding history and key elements of their lives. The DVD even offers extensive camera footage of lead singer Gerard Way's home.

Fans really get their money's worth with additional non-stop bonus material and even humorous comic book depictions of the band.

The second DVD doesn't fall behind in any way. Highlighting some of the band's finest live performances, the collection demonstrates the Jersey boys' ability to keep it tight onstage and skyrocket the energy level way above the average group.

The first three tracks on the live DVD are actually from the MTV2 $2 Bill concert filmed in Niagara Falls, N.Y., from March 2005. It offers great footage of Way dressed in his black suit, red tie, and black eye paint, commanding the crowd from stage as if a military leader.

Other live concert footage, private AOL sessions, and episodes from MTV's "Making the Video" provide hours of blood-soaked shrieks and screams for the hardcore.

As if all this wasn't enough, MCR even provides a CD that contains all the live performances from the DVDs. At just under $20, buyers get three times as much for little over the cost of a regular CD.

Any relatively faithful fan will find the intimate perspective of My Chemical Romance to be a treat, especially if you haven't yet had the chance to see them live.
