Incredulous indifference

???Recorded live from New York, it's The Lonely Island!

???Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, together known as sketch comedy trio The Lonely Island, have recorded their first album, Incredibad.

???While some tracks lack humor, a good portion of the record combines comedic hooks with surprisingly impressive beats and overall production value.

???Their recently released single "I'm on a Boat," featuring T-Pain, is the perfect example of what the band is about.

???Sampling a piece of Lil Wayne's "I Got Money," Samberg layers hip-hop rhymes as T-Pain auto-tunes his way through the deep blue sea on a fantastic boat ride.

???"I'm riding on a dolphin, doing flips . . ./ The dolphin's splashing, getting everybody all wet/ But this ain't Seaworld, this is real as it gets."

???If many of the tracks sound familiar, it's because most of them have already been featured Saturday Night Live Digital Shorts and have made the rounds all over the Internet.

???Playing more like a greatest hits release, tracks such as "Lazy Sunday" and "Space Olympics" seem to be lacking something without the aid of visual accompaniment, but hits featuring Justin Timberlake, which describe the nether-regions of the male anatomy, bring enough heat to melt the snow.

???While the previously released songs are a funny, the new material is not funny enough to prevent the album from being predominantly filler.

???"Sax Man," featuring Jack Black, is about as funny as the Tenacious D movie.

???Spoiler alert: it wasn't good.

???Opening the album is "Who Said We're Wack," a track that misses the mark on both being funny and being something worth listening to.

???The problem artists face when releasing a musically based comedy album is being able to not only be funny, but also create music worthy of second listens. More than not, this is where The Lonely Island shines.

???Along with getting Top 40 superstars to contribute, The Lonely Island has mastered creating wonderfully wound hip-hop beats with catchy lyrics intended to be ingrained into the minds of listeners.

???The Lonely Island's debut album isn't incredibly bad, but it definitely isn't incredibly good.

???It's incredi-ok.
