Fall academic honors

Daniel Bell and Erik Jaanimagi of the men's soccer team were both named College Scholar All-East Region honorable mention by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. The two Bulls are the first players in the team's history to receive the honor. As a political science major, Bell was named to the team as a result of his 3.5 GPA while Jaanimagi, an anthropology major, carried a 3.44 GPA.

The women's soccer team earned its first National Soccer Coaches Association of America Academic team Honors for its 3.39 GPA during the 2004-2005 academic year. Buffalo was one of 316 teams to post a team GPA better than 3.0. Nineteen players on the team carried a GPA better than 3.0 and four players had a perfect 4.0.

Football

Aaron Sanders and Jesse Imes of the football team were named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team. Sanders earned the honor for the second straight year as a marketing major with a 3.45 GPA, while Imes carried a 3.54 GPA as a pharmacy major.

Haddad returns to NFL

Former Bulls receiver Drew Haddad signed a contract with the San Diego Chargers in December and finished the season with the team. Haddad made it through the last day of cuts for the Bills training camp last summer before being picked up by the Chargers.

Haddad holds UB's school record for receptions with 85 and yards with 1,158, both of which he set in 1999. The receiver also holds career records in receptions with 240, yards with 3,409 and all purpose yards with 105 rushing, 3,409 receiving, 519 kick returns and 735 in punt returns. In addition to his time with the Bills and the Chargers, Haddad has also played with the Colts and in Europe.

Four players named to All-Region Teams

After a heartbreaking ending to the 2005 season, four of the players on the men's soccer team have been named to All-Region Teams.

Sophomore Lee Catchpole is the first Bull in the team's history to be named to the First Team All-Region honors. Although he missed three games due to injuries, he tallied nine goals and 24 points last season, putting him in the top 15 and top 10, respectively, in Buffalo single-season history.

Senior defender Mbwana Johnson and junior forward Andrae Clarke both earned Second Team honors for their performances last season. Johnson was also named to the All-MAC team having been the core of the Bulls' dominant defense.

Senior Greg Galemore earned a Third Team spot. He was one of only four players to start in all 19 of UB's games.
