Two men charged in robbery spree


Jeremy Law, 17, of Dartmouth Avenue and Eddie Manuel, 18, of Woltz Avenue, have been arrested and charged with the robberies of three UB students.

The two men are charged with felony counts of armed robbery and weapons possession, according to the Buffalo News.

They were apprehended after fleeing the scene by the Buffalo Police Department on Main Street. Meshak Vaithilingham, a graduate student at UB, was apparently robbed of jewelry and his cell phone by the two men on Merrimac Street on Friday at 1 p.m.

Numerous robberies and carjackings have occurred in the University Heights area on different streets in the last week. The first of the robberies occurred on Oct. 23 on Custer Street.

Throughout the week, individuals walking alone were robbed on several neighboring streets from South Campus including Lisbon Avenue, Merrimac Street and Englewood Avenue.

Law and Manuel are allegedly responsible for three of the incidents reported to the Buffalo Police occurring in the University Heights District.

Paul Elis, a sophomore undecided major, was robbed on Oct. 27, on Englewood Avenue at gunpoint. According to the Buffalo News, he was robbed of valuables worth about $550.

The two men also allegedly robbed Pratap Nataraj, a computer science major, of the money in his wallet on Montrose Avenue at gunpoint Tuesday.
