Student Association Announces Fall Fest 2011 Lineup

Since the beginning of the semester students have been anxiously awaiting the announcement of the bands heading to UB this year for Fall Fest. That time has finally come and the Student Association has released the details.

This year's Fall Fest will take place on Oct. 20. The doors will open at 5 p.m. and the show will kick things off at 6 p.m. Ticket purchases can be made through Ticketmaster but, as always, undergraduates will get in free.

The headliner this year is pop rock outfit The Fray. Characterized by its driving piano melodies, the band debuted in 2005 with the album How to Save a Life, which went double platinum. Four years later it was met with even more commercial success when its self-titled album hit number one on the Billboard 200 chart and was nominated for a Grammy. The Fray's third album, Scars and Stories, is set to release on Feb. 7, 2012, so don't be surprised to hear the band playing some new songs at Fall Fest.

Also in attendance will be The White Panda, a mashup duo hailing from Chicago. With songs like "Mo Free Mo Fallin,'" a mashup of Tom Petty and Notorious B.I.G., and "Lazerblow," a mashup of Ke$ha and Coyote Kisses, The White Panda is one group that will more than likely have a little bit of something for everyone.

The third band coming to Fall Fest this year is 2AM Club. This group mixes a plethora of genres – such as rock, funk and hip-hop – to create its signature sound. 2AM Club released its first album, What Did You Think Was Going to Happen?, in 2010 and have been gaining momentum since.
