First Swim and Dive meet of the season.

The Bulls swim and dive team had their first meet of the season this past weekend at home, competing with Niagara University and Cornell University. The Cornell Big Red swam and dove exhibition for the meet, meaning the only scored swims were against the Niagara Purple Eagles. The Bulls dominated both the swimming and diving portions of the meet to walk away with a 213-58 win over the Purple Eagles.

The Bulls opened the meet with a win in the 400-yard medley relay, with the team of sophomore Vivian Roy, freshman Pinar Donmez, senior Nicole Aguilar and sophomore Bella Forsman hitting the wall with a time of 1:44.35. Both Roy and Forsman had outstanding freshman seasons with the Bulls and proved early into the meet that last year they were just getting started.

Aguilar and Forsman were names that went on to be heard throughout the meet. Forsman took first place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:52.52. Just a few swims later Aguilar won the 100-yard butterfly, smashing into the touch pad with a time of 56.50 as well as the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 25.53. Forsman was nowhere close to done for the day, and in the ninth event took home another first place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.29 to mark a personal best. Forsman finished her day with a win and a personal best in the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 58.32.

On the diving side of the meet, freshman Adele Melamud took home first place in both the one-meter and three-meter events scoring a 278.48 and a 293.55, respectively. In her first collegiate meet, Melemud missed the Bulls all-time top ten three-meter score by less than half of a point.

The Bulls won the meet in a landslide, with the combined efforts of returning swimmers as well as some fresh faces adding points to the board. The team’s next meet will be against Marshall University and Ohio University in Athens, Ohio this upcoming Friday, Oct. 24, and Saturday, Oct. 25.
