It's almost time for Spring Fest again, one of the biggest events of the year. SA doesn't communicate directly with the performers (though they partied with OneRepublic after Fall Fest.) But SA can encourage those they do communicate with to keep a tight schedule. Anything to try and avoid the Sean Paul fiasco of the 2006 Fall Fest.
Now that they've caught up with their budgeting, SA has done a good job being transparent about where students' fees have gone. The records are usually on display for interested students to look at in 350 Student Union.
Still, some expenditures such as "staff development" aren't as crystal clear; they need to be labeled better to save SA from looking suspicious. Staff development can be anything from training to partying.
Remember SA, it's not your money to spend however you want. You were elected to make good choices on behalf of the students. And so far, so good.
It's SA's job to keep students clearly informed of how their money is being spent. Likewise, it's up to students to keep giving feedback. Fill out suggestions for Spring Fest on SA's door or on sa.buffalo.edu. Let them know concerts and comedy shows should not be held on school nights. Tell them whether you want smaller shows in the CFA or larger venues.
Students, give feedback now, since you can't really demand a refund later.
