Bulls keep busy over spring break

Catching up with UB sports

Wrestling:

The Bulls (1-11, 1-4 MAC) sent three wrestlers to the conference finals but came away empty-handed as all three lost. The team finished seventh out of eight teams in the Mid-American Conference Championships at Alumni Arena. The Bulls will now send four wrestlers to the NCAA Championships in two weeks.

Women's tennis:

The Bulls (9-0) headed South over the break to take on the Louisiana-Lafayette

Ragin' Cajuns (10-7) and the University of New Orleans Privateers (3-10). The Bulls only

gave up three points total in both games, all of which came in their 4-3 victory over the Cajuns. They swept the Privateers in a dominant 7-0 shutout.

Men's tennis:

Buffalo (6-6) went 0-3 over the break, with losses on the road to Brown (7-5), Florida Atlantic (5-9) and Lynn (12-1).

Baseball:

The baseball team (10-9) hit the road for nine games over the break. The Bulls traveled to Tennessee to face Vanderbilt, Belmont and Memphis. After going 1-4 on the Southern road trip, the win coming at Memphis, Buffalo headed out to Ohio to face Oakland and Dayton. The Bulls went 3-1 on the trip, including a 4-0 shutout over Dayton to cap off the break.

Softball:

The softball team (5-17) went 3-8 over spring break. At the Mizuno Invitational, the Bulls won their first game 6-3 over Southern Utah (6-18) before dropping their next three games. The Bulls split a two-game series with Long Beach State (18-12) and then traveled to California for the San Diego Classic II tournament, in which they won just one (vs. Texas-Arlington) of five games.

Track and field:

Men's shot putter Jonathan Jones and women's weight thrower Shante' White represented the Bulls at the NCAA National Indoor Track and Field Championships. Jones finished the competition 13th, while White placed 15th. Both Jones and White earned second-team All-American honors.

Swimming and diving:

The men's team finished in third place with first-place finishes from senior Matt Hogan in the 100 freestyle and junior Mike Dugan in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly. The Bulls also came in first in the 200 freestyle relay.
