"Three, Two, One, Lift Off"

The UB men's and women's track and field teams ran wild over the competition at the Bucknell University's Bison Outdoor Classic on last Friday and Saturday.

While there was no team scoring, the women's team took home 13 individual titles and the men's team took home four.

Senior Allison Laske help lead the Bulls to their dominating performance, as they crushed Christina Keck's 1,500-meter school record, with a time of 4:27.15. Her finish topped the previous record by seven seconds. With that time, Laske qualifies for the NCAA Regional meet by 1.57 seconds.

"Alison Laske is a workhorse, she has been coming in every day with a winning attitude, and it shows," said men's and women's coach Jim Garnham Jr.

Laske also took home the 400-meter title in a time of 57.1 seconds.

"She (Laske) has an incredible work ethic," said Julia Kaufman, assistant strength and conditioning coach, who has been working with Laske to improve her speed. "It happened last summer, that she put her mind to it, and said that this is the year that she was going to work hard no matter what."

Another athlete who has been working closely with Kaufman is Jenny Koeppel, who stepped up to take a victory in the 3,000-meter race. She took the race by more than 12 seconds and with the win, Koeppel is now second in the MAC standings.
