The cross country team put on a strong outing in Rochester, New York at Saturday's annual Yellowjacket Invite. The women finished sixth amongst 24 teams. 

The women’s 6k was led by junior Leslie Villafuerte Castro, who placed 26th out of 249 runners with a time of 23:18.6, a personal best by just under 30 seconds. Six more runners placed within the top 50, headlined by senior Lexi Bernard, who finished 33rd with a time of 23:31.4, sophomore Sophie Brettholz, who placed 35th with a personal best of 23:35.5, and junior Megan Smith who placed finished 38th at 23:40.4.

Buffalo had three runners compete in the men’s 8k. Freshman Kevin Sherry was the fastest out of the Bulls runners, posting a time of 26:19.5, earning him 26th place out of 312 runners. Sophomore Fernando Sanchez was the next Bulls runner to finish, with a time of 27:50.2, placing him 122nd. Junior Nick Hockenbury finished the day with a time of 29:10.2 and 196th place. 

The next competition will take place on Friday, October 3, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania for the Lehigh University Paul Short Invite.
