I am writing in response to Wednesday's article ("Campus plowing brings flurry of frustration," Feb. 22) regarding the plowing and snow maintenance. I am a student employee at University Facilities, and I feel that we do a very thorough job at keeping the roads clean. All of the workers do their best to keep the parking lots, roads, and sidewalks clear. Often, the employees must come in very early in the morning, before anybody arrives, in order to plow all the roads, allowing people to safely drive on campus.
We also take care of small details that are very important, such as shoveling and salting all handicap spots thoroughly, so that individuals in wheelchairs can move about the campus with ease. We can't control the weather itself; it's Buffalo, and it gets icy. But we do as much shoveling, salting, and plowing as we can in order to fight it.
