Local band DaisyChain stopped by the newsroom in December to give the inaugural performance in The Spectrum’s brand new concert series. The three-piece rock group, fronted by UB electrical engineering senior Joseph Gogan and backed by guitarists Katie Missert and Matthew Riley, played a raucous set that featured both original songs and a host of classic covers. Allen West speech - UB YAF Organizers chased across campus
Mar. 23About 75 student protesters chased students affiliated with UB's chapter of Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) after conservative commentator Allen West spoke on campus last spring. The chase was captured on security camera footage obtained by The Spectrum. West, a former Republican congressman, was invited by YAF to deliver a speech titled “America is not Racist” in the Student Union. Dozens of students protested before and during West’s speech. The Erie County District Attorney’s office told The Spectrum it wouldn’t press charges against any individuals in connection with the incident.
