UB men’s tennis competed this past weekend at the Farnsworth Invitational in Princeton, New Jersey, picking up several singles and doubles victories against Princeton University, Purdue University, Dartmouth College and Drexel University.
The Bulls opened the tournament Friday with three singles victories against Princeton.
Senior Onder Balci won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, senior Minjae Kim also won by the score of 6-1, 6-1. Recent transfer from the North Carolina State Wolfpack, sophomore Miko Lapalme finished the day with wins as well, 7-5, 7-5.
UB continued its excellent play Saturday. Lapalme and freshman Mathis Salvestre earned an 8-3 doubles victory against Princeton, while Kim picked up yet another singles win, he won in three sets, 7-5, 4-6, 6-1 against his Purdue opponent.
The Bulls closed out their weekend with a great showing on Sunday. Salvestre and Lapalme earned an 8-5 doubles victory against Purdue before UB added three more singles wins.
Lapalme defeated his Dartmouth opponent in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4, while Kim earned a three-set victory against Drexel, 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (6). Balci also picked up a three-set win against Drexel, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1.
Buffalo returns to action this weekend, from Oct. 1 to 4, at the Penn State Invitational in State College, Pennsylvania.
