A place where creative ambitions thrive, and honest storytelling is pursued — The Spectrum.

I cannot emphasize enough how much this experience meant to me. Before coming to college, I intended to become a journalist. I have always been passionate about storytelling and shedding light on topics that often go overlooked. Through this class, I not only fulfilled my dream, but also learned how to write.

Under Professor Andriach's leadership, I developed the skills to properly format, structure and organize journalistic work — tools that will remain invaluable to me moving forward. I genuinely look up to Professor Andriach, and his passion for journalism enables my passion and allows me to curate stories I am especially proud of.

To The Spectrum team: although I may not have been the most vocal during meetings, I tend to grow quieter in environments where I feel comfortable. I loved every second of the editors meeting and felt genuine joy.

Despite this being only my second semester writing for The Spectrum, I never once felt excluded or overlooked. I was surrounded by people willing to help, guide and support me. I always felt comfortable reaching out to Amy and Izabella, knowing they would offer thoughtful advice and direction.

I want to give a special thank you to Jacob. From the beginning, he made a genuine effort to ensure I felt included. I remember walking into The Spectrum office feeling overwhelmed by the talent around me, but Jacob took the time to help me understand everything. He always made an effort to connect with me and make me feel at home.

I was immersed in an atmosphere where every person had the same passion as me. To highlight the beauty of humanity at a time when distrust often feels widespread. Through my experience with The Spectrum, I learned just how remarkable people can be. While there is no shortage of negativity in the world, I encountered many individuals defined by resilience and determination. People working through their own challenges while striving to live life on their own terms. I found genuine joy in speaking with people who are driven and hardworking, and I learned to approach others with greater empathy, especially those who may initially come across distant and bitter. Everyone carries their own struggles.

My time here gave me a new perspective, and helped shape the person I am today.

I truly value my time with The Spectrum and am incredibly grateful for this experience. I am confident that under Mylien’s leadership, The Spectrum will continue to be a hub for honest storytelling and a community of writers with integrity.

I hope I was able to contribute in a meaningful way, and I will continue to be an avid reader of the work published.

Thank you.
