University Police arrested a 53-year-old man last Tuesday for allegedly starting a fire in a Baldy Hall classroom around 2:30 p.m. on UB’s North Campus. The fire and the smoke that resulted had forced occupants to evacuate the building.
The fire was put out with an extinguisher by an officer. No injuries were reported.
The man was experiencing homelessness, according to police, and had no connection to the university. He faces four charges: arson in the second degree, burglary in the third degree endangerment of property and criminal nuisance in the second degree.
