SA Senate elects Gavin Krauciunas as senate chairperson

This year will be the third year Krauciunas assumes the role

The undergraduate Student Association Senate elected Gavin Krauciunas to serve as its chairperson for the 2025-26 year at its first meeting Wednesday, marking it the third year Krauciunas will be in the position.

Krauciunas received 14 votes overall, beating his only competitor — Grant Peterson — by seven. One senator abstained.

While campaigning for the position, Krauciunas mainly pointed to experiences extending back to high school, prior terms as the Senate chairperson, and his internships at the district attorney and public defender offices in Oneida County.

“I have experiences all the way back to high school,” Krauciunas said. “I would speak on behalf of every student in my high school.”

Krauciunas also ran twice to become SA president in the ‘24-25 and ‘25-26 e-board elections.
