UB women’s soccer (12-4-2, 8-3-1 MAC) closed out the regular season with a 2-0 to Western Michigan (14-3-1, 11-1-1 MAC) Wednesday afternoon in Buffalo.
The loss followed a strong week for the Bulls, who drew 0-0 to Bowling Green (9-2-8, 4-1-7 MAC) and won 3-1 versus Toledo (4-8-6, 1-7-4 MAC) in their previous two games. The Western Michigan Broncos, who entered the match on a four game win streak, struck quickly, scoring twice in the first 17 minutes to take control of the match early.
Buffalo created a few quality chances but couldn’t score. Senior midfielder Ashley Reyes and junior defender Maya Galko each recorded a shot on goal. Graduate forward Jasmine Guerber and senior midfielder Koby Commandant also helped drive the attack as well.
The Broncos two goals both came early in the game, with the first being scored just 23 seconds in. Despite letting two shots in, junior goalkeeper Lexie Thompson made two saves to help steady the defense.
The loss wraps up a strong season for the Bulls, who finish 12-4-2 overall and 8-3-1 in Mid-American Conference (MAC) play.
Buffalo now turns its attention to the MAC Tournament in Columbus, Ohio. The tournament kicks off Saturday, Nov. 1 with their opponent to be announced.
