The Bulls volleyball team traveled to Duquesne University and Robert Morris University over the weekend, looking to bounce back after losing to Cornell in their last match. The Bulls (3-5, 0-0 MAC) would lose the first game against the Dukes of Duquesne (8-2, 0-0 A10), 25-23, 25-20 and 25-16.
Despite the loss, junior opposite hitter Manolea Forlin had seven kills, seven digs and one ace. Redshirt junior middle blocker Theya Shaw had a career day as well, tying her career high in blocks with seven.
In their final non-conference game, The Bulls would play the Robert Morris Colonials (4-7, 0-0 Horizon League). In a game where all three sets were close, the Bulls would lose the game 25-18, 25-22 and 31-29. Forlin had another excellent game, with 11 kills and three blocks. Freshman setter Maddie Mitchell and junior defensive specialist Chloe Brown also had great games, particularly on defense. They each had 16 digs, a career high for both of them.
The Bulls will be back in action on Thursday, September 25th when they host the Ball State Cardinals (4-8, 0-0 MAC for their first Mid-American Conference game of the year. The game will be on ESPN+ and will start at 6 p.m. in the UB Arena.
