The Spectrum was founded in 1950 as the University at Buffalo's independent student-run news publication.

As the academic year comes to an end, The Spectrum would like to recognize its staff for all of the hard work, long hours, and professional-grade reporting that they contributed in 2023-24.

From breaking news, to in-depth features, to social media and photography, this year’s Spectrum staff went above and beyond to inform the UB community.

Ryan Tantalo is the managing editor of The Spectrum. He previously served as senior sports editor. Outside of the newsroom, Ryan spends his time announcing college hockey games, golfing, skiing and reading.
