Women's volleyball celebrates during a game against Ohio University.

UB women’s volleyball (15-3, 5-1 MAC) added two wins to their record this past week, defeating the Central Michigan Chippewas (8-10, 2-4 MAC) and the Eastern Michigan Eagles (2-17, 0-7 MAC) at home. The team is now leading the Mid American Conference’s East Division

The Bulls hosted the Chippewas on Thursday night in what became the closest game of the week, ending three sets to two in favor of Buffalo. The two teams traded sets until the fifth set, when the Bulls topped the Chippewas 15-11.

It was a memorable night for senior outside hitter Katrin Trebichavska, who reached a career high of 27 kills. Junior setter Mandy Leigh also had a night, as she recorded a season-high 57 assists. Both Bulls proved crucial in Thursday night’s victory.

The following night, the Bulls thrashed the Eagles three sets to nothing in a dominant victory. Buffalo’s offensive play proved too much for the Eagles to handle, as the final set ended in a 25-9 win for the Bulls.

On the court, Mandy Leigh had another incredible showing, leading the game in total assists with 34, out-assisting the entire Eagles team who only had 26. She is now the player with the third most overall assists in the MAC.

Fifth-year middle blocker Courtney Okwara also had an impressive display, finishing the game with 10 kills, 2 blocks and a hitting percentage of .769%. She currently leads the MAC in hitting percentages

The Bulls will visit Ohio to defend their three game winning streak to face the Toledo Rockets (6-10, 4-1 MAC) in two back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday. The first serve will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Friday  and 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
