Men’s basketball (4-2) cruised to a 94-49 victory against the Point Park Pioneers (2-3) Monday night at Alumni Arena.

The Bulls came out fierce from the opening tip and jumped out to a 16-2 lead within the first five minutes.

For six of the last seven minutes of the first half, the Bulls held the Pioneers scoreless. UB turned defense into offense and capitalized with a massive 16-0 scoring run, with senior forward Josh Mballa’s slam dunk giving the Bulls a 49-19 lead with two minutes remaining in the half.

Redshirt senior guard Keishawn Brewton’s three gave the Bulls their largest first-half lead of 52-21. Though the Pioneers managed to land three more points in the final minutes to end the first half 52-24.

The Bulls ended the second half with a 42-25 lead, leaving them with an impressive 94-49 victory versus the Pioneers.

UB’s “Big Three” — senior guard Ronaldo Segu, and senior forwards Jeenathan Williams and Mballa — carried the Bulls. Mballa recorded his second double-double of the season with  an impressive 19 points and 12 rebounds while Williams dropped 18 points. Segu scored 10 points and dished seven assists in just 17 minutes.

Brewton shot 3-of-7 from three point range as the 2020 Coastal Carolina transfer scored a university-high 13 points. The Bulls collectively blocked 13 shots — tying for third most in UB history. UB also grabbed 50 rebounds in a game for a second time this year.

The Bulls will return to action against the St. Bonaventure Bonnies (5-1) at the Reilly Center in St. Bonaventure on Saturday at 4 p.m. This game will be aired on NBC sports network.
