Men’s basketball sophomore guard Savion Gallion has entered the transfer portal after just two seasons with the Bulls, according to verbalcommits.com.

The Washington native averaged just 1.5 points, 0.6 rebounds and 0.4 assists in 12 games this season. As a freshman in 2020, he averaged only 3.2 minutes and 1.5 points per contest in 17 games.

Gallion averaged 22 points and six rebounds per game at Thurgood Marshall High School in 2017-18, en route to a Washington Post All-Met team honorable mention selection.

Men’s basketball is losing a number of guards this offseason, including star senior guard Jayvon Graves, who announced he would be moving onto his “next chapter” on March 24. The Bulls also had four other senior guards — David Nickelberry, Keishawn Brewton, Jamon Bivens and Maceo Jack — on their 2020 roster.

Head coach Jim Whitesell will have to address these gaps through recruitment. Currently, only junior guard Ronaldo Segu, sophomore guard Malik Zachery and Jack seem to be returning for the 2021 campaign.

Gallion has yet to comment about his decision to enter the transfer portal.
