The Mid-American Conference announced Tuesday that UB women’s basketball stars Dyaisha Fair and Cheyenne McEvans have been named to the conference’s all-postseason teams.
Fair, a sophomore guard from Rochester, earned a spot on the All-MAC First Team and was named to the All-Defensive Team. McEvans, a freshman guard from just outside Detroit, was placed on the All-Freshman Team.
McEvans became the second Bulls freshman in a row to make the All-Freshman Team, after Fair secured the honor in 2020.h Fair is the first UB player to earn a spot on the All-MAC First Team since Cierra Dillard, in 2018-19. Her spot on the All-Defensive Team also marks the second straight season in which a UB player was named, following graduated guard Theresea Onwuka, who earned that honor last season.
As a sophomore, Fair has been a powerhouse for the Bulls, averaging 24.1 points per game, good for seventh in the nation. She has also averaged 6.0 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 2.8 steals per game, while maintaining a +1.8 assist to turnover ratio and shooting 80.7% from the free-throw line.
Fair is one of only five Division I athletes averaging at least 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists per game. She is also one of thirteen players in all of Division I to record a triple double this season. Fair is ranked in the top-25 nationally for free throws made (130), free throws attempted (161), assists (114), steals (61), field goals made (173) and total points (531). The sophomore guard has scored double-digit points 21 times this season, including four 30+ point performances.
McEvans has been a key contributor for the Bulls on both ends of the floor, even as a freshman. McEvans has averaged 11.0 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game while shooting nearly 43% from the field. The Southfield, MI native has reached double-digits in points 14 times this season, including a seven-game streak where she scored 10 or more points. She has also recorded two double-doubles this year.
