UB students to take part in Sunday’s Juneteenth Festival

UB’s ‘Guy Talk’ series to remember, recognize past at community event

UB students in Guy Talk, a community series aimed toward assisting and enriching the lives of minority men, will perform at Sunday’s Juneteenth Festival on Buffalo’s East Side.

Students will perform in an artistic demonstration at the 43rd annual festival in Martin Luther King Jr. Park, according to Marchon Hamilton II, the program’s director. Hamilton said the event, held at 12:50 p.m. at the festival’s Edutainment Stage, will commemorate the 400th anniversary of the first African people brought into the United States as slaves.

“The University at Buffalo surrounding community, family and friends are all invited to come and see the gentlemen of Guy Talk do a special tribute which will demonstrate some of the disparities faced by people of color and specifically men of color,” Hamilton II said.
