UB Athletics has canceled the scheduled tailgate in the LaSalle Parking lot for tonight’s men’s basketball game due to weather conditions, according to Buffalo Marketing Director Elaine Russell.

The temperature is expected to be eight degrees with a wind chill of negative eight degrees beginning at 8 p.m. The temperature is expected to drop to five degrees by midnight. UB Athletics decided it was in the best interest of the program and the student body to cancel, according to Russell.

The tailgate was set to begin at 8 p.m. and end at 9:30 and take place inside heated tents. Russell said the food from the tailgate would still be made available to students inside Alumni Arena near the bottom of the student section at 9 p.m. The first 1,000 students will receive a True Blue tuxedo T-shirt upon entrance.

The tailgate – which was organized by UB club True Blue – was intended to kick off the ‘blackout’ game, which will be aired nationally on ESPNU.

UB Athletics has not confirmed if the tailgate will be rescheduled for another game.

Tipoff is still set for 10 p.m.
