The football team (3-3, 1-1 Mid-American Conference) lost 36-35 to Bowling Green (4-2, 2-0 MAC) at Doyt Perry Stadium Saturday.

The Bulls led 35-30 and set up a 33-yard field goal attempt with a little over three minutes remaining in the game to expand their lead to eight points. Senior kicker Patrick Clarke missed the attempt wide right.

It only took the Falcons 40 seconds to drive 80 yards in four plays for the game-winning touchdown – a 4-yard run by Bowling Green’s sophomore running back Fred Coppet.

A 42-yard kick return by junior running back Devin Campbell gave Buffalo the ball at the Bowling Green 48-yard line. The Bulls were unable to move past the 46-yard line, however, and failed to convert on fourth down.

Junior running back Anthone Taylor had his second game of more than 200 yards, running for 219 yards and three touchdowns. Junior quarterback Joe Licata was 16 of 24 passing for 134 yards and had one touchdown and one interception.

“This can’t be the turning point to turmoil. It has to be the turning point to glory and more victories down the road,” said senior safety Adam Redden. “Don’t let this be the turning point to the worse and let’s build from it.”

Buffalo plays at Eastern Michigan (1-4, 0-1 MAC) next Saturday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
